Everyday Enounters at OMSI

Everyday encounters with space . . . with the seaside . . . with food . . . with science. This is what the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) promised and delivered, while we, in turn, gave them a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the American Heritage Youth Chorus.

One of the highlights was touring the U.S.S. Blueback, the Navy's last non-nuclear, fast attack submarine which was acquired by the OMSI after it was decommissioned. This happens to be the same submarine where Hunt for Red October was filmed, and we thought we heard our favorite lines echoing throughout the chamber.

"A great day, comrades, we sail into history!"

"One ping only."

"You've lost another submarine?"

The officers' mess had great luxury of space . . .

. . . unlike the unlisted mens'.
